my ATI ICP test showed potassium at 230 so I tried to raise it with water changes but now it is only 250-280.

What potassium products are you guys using?

You can use k2so4 for planted aquariums. Sulfate is the third most common element in the ocean and will not have an effect being raised with the potassium to its nsw values.

Thanks, I’ll have to look into that!

Looking for as many suggestions as possible.

you should use potassium chloride salt. Potassium hydroxide is also a great option, but due to the sudden increase of pH, it should be used very low and added over the course of a few days.

+1 on RedSea Trace Colors ABCD. I also dose potassium nitrate to keep my nitrates up. Everything seems to be in perfect equilibrium thus far.

I use a potassium supplement but I forget what kind. It would be way cheaper to raise your levels with something like that than a reefing product, especially if it’s currently being consumed quickly in the tank.
What are you doing to make it so low?

Im not doing anything, I just have a ton of SPS and dont do water changes regularly so I know I need to find something to support the potassium levels.

That’s crazy low, I saw corals respond when mine was low but it wasn’t near that number. I wonder what a salifert kit will read and if it’s anywhere near what ati’s Test says.

Salifert was right on with the ATI ICP and now my salifert says 250-280 and that is after water changes.

More bananas man, just kidding. I would raise it with potassium nitrate or chloride to increase levels. After that get back onto a regular water change schedule with a quality salt mix to replenish the minor trace elements. Other option is to get on a dosing system made for no water changes like Triton, Aquaforest or Red Sea Colors.

Just tested K for the first time I a while today and mine was low at 330. Used the red sea colors to supplement some. I believe that if you grow a ton of macro like I do and remove it that pulls a lot of potassium out of the system.

Yup I do. I just bought some KCL that I will use to raise my potassium

I use Brightwell Aquatics Potassion. Been using it for years. Great product. Raises safely. Read the instructions and follow or use less.
MyK levels Run around 390-410
