Hi everyone. I've been silent on the forums, taking advantage of the wonderfully useful info on here.:D

I have a question about dosing kno3. I would like to add it to my top off water but have read that the stored solution needs to be sealed. Are there any negative effects to a low concentration solution being exposed to air for 4-5 days?

Kind of curious on this myself since I have to dose nitrates to keep them detectable. Would save a doser head or manually forgetting to do it. LOL

Where do u guys buy the potassum nitrate from ? Lfs ?

I think this could be just what I need for my tank as I struggle to get about 0.2ppm nitrate

What about if you’re running Kalk can it still be added to ATO?

Here in Canada it's not super easy to come by, the Hydroponic store is where I get mine. Only place I found to carry it.

Ok thanks finhead , over in England I can get it on line tho ,

Would I need to test for potassum when dosing it ? I guess I would need to

Not if you use sodium nitrate. :)

10 years ago it was considered the only way to succeed and now its a pain in the ****

I brought my nitrate up to 5ppm. I'm using the Red Sea pro test kit to test nitrate. I'll monitor its consumption for the next few days. Once I figure out daily uptake, I'll add potassium nitrate to my topoff water. The plan is to only check the tank's nitrate when I fill my topoff water bucket and adjust accordingly.
