Today I am going to start dosing potassium nitrate (from stump remover). Currently I am at undetectable NO3. The goal is to get to around 5 ppm. How fast/slow should I go to achieve this?

You can go as fast as you want, although probably best to space it out over a couple days.

I go from 0 to 5ppm in one dose. I just toss dry KNO3 in a filter sock in my sump. Never had any issues and the corals usually look better the next day.

Do a search for stump remover before. I've seen some not so good results here on R2R. There are KNO3 to buy for aquariums. Check stores for planted fresh water tanks.

I have always used this stuff.
