Potassium Nitrate

Hello,

I have recently been having troubles due to low nitrates in my reef tank. So I read up on some articles and saw that some people were dosing potassium nitrate to increase the level of nitrates in their tanks. I don’t have a dealer for potassium nitrate in my region but I did find this

Can I use this product in my reef tank to increase nitrates?

From what you posted I would not. You can also use sodium nitrate or calcium nitrate. Sodium niutrate might be easier to find food grade.

Food grade sodium or calcium nitrate is a better choice than potassium nitrate. At least sodium nitrate is available from Amazon.

IMO, potassium nitrate is not ever the best choice unless you also know you want to raise potassium substantially.
