Tested my Potassium using an ELOS kit. Was way low around 200ppm. I have never had a problem with bluing in my tank. Anyway bought some Warner Marine Potassium and raised it to 300 over 5 days. I noticed an outbreak of Cyano. Any relation to new dosing of Potassium? And can raising your Potassium from 200 to 400 in 2 days cause problems with corals or live stock?

Thanks

According to the Zeovit guide, algal growth is an indicator of potassium overdose/rapid increase of potassium level. I haven't heard of any issues raising K levels over the course of a couple of days, but I'd spread it out over a week. NSW level is 380-400. How do you like the Elos kit? I just tried the Red Sea Pro test and liked it, I had difficulty with the KZ brand test

Just a helpful tip: Cyano is often removed with a mix of Coral Snow and Zeobak by the zeo crowd. Sunnyx uses Coral Snow and a bacterial additive to remove cyano as well.

Love the ELOS test kit. Straight forward. Once the black dot is no longer visible looking through the top of the vial you simply read the results. No color indicator to worry about.
