I am thinking of getting an angel fish for my tank, I want something that is reef safe. I have already had a flame, coral beauty and a swallowtail before in previous setups.

I have never had any experience with the potters angel before though. I know every fish varies generally speaking have people had good luck?

Thanks.

I had one. He was fine. Died unexpectedly though. Liked him a lot. I think your risk is equivalent to a flame or coral beauty.

I hear they are less hardy than some other dwarfs.
I however love mine and have had no problems at all.

Beautiful fish. But most I've kept did nip here & there (eventually). IME; this fish can be finicky when you first get it.

I've had a potters since last November. He has been a model citizen. Eats flake, pellets, nori, and mysis. Great addition to my 100 gal reef.

They're definitely harder than coral beauties, I would say just a bit tougher than flames. Ive kept them for years but they die randomly. They need clean water, tend to come with flukes (like most Angels) so treat with prazipro (reef safe), and small to medium sized potters do best. Small to small/medium are the hardiest in my experience. I kept a trio of potters in a 54 corner for over a year until my heater died when out of town.
