So I have had my Powder Blue in Quarantine for 17 days. He has been eating and swimming and in good health. Couple of days ago I noticed his mouth "looked funny" Like disfigured. But he was still eating and swimming. Then the next day I noticed a white bone on the edge of his mouth showing with no flesh? But he was still eating and swimming. Then today I get home from work and he isn't doing good at all. Almost dead and his mouth is almost completely like disintegrated if that makes sense? Just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I do have some pictures but they are quite disturbing to post. :(

Thanks for any ideas you can share.

He has passed. This stinks. Here is a photo. Looks horrible. Whatever it is it happened quickly since last night.

Yes. I only had him for 17 days. I feel bad because even last night he was eating and swimming but his mouth didn't look that bad. Just wondering if he came down with something during QT or if I purchased him with something. I seen him eat out of the LFS employees hand and swim just fine.

Have you got other fishes in the qt?
Sorry for all my question but I ve a suspect and have to do it

No he was in there alone. Questions are fine. Any help to find the answer. Trying to learn from this to see if there was anything else i could of done to prevent the outcome.

Ok thanks
There is a family of copepods who live as parasites in frontal cavity"sinueses" of the fishes not much known since now
And I had see a similar action of the one of your fish
I suggest to tiere down your qt and disinfect everything inside

Because this looked like an infection of some sort I'm already on it. Threw out what little sand was in there and everything will get a vinegar soaking for a few days. Thanks for the help.

Thank you for the links Humblefish. I'll research and read up on that tomorrow. Also better order whatever meds I need so I can have them on hand. Because as fast as this happened there wasn't time for ordering meds and waiting for shipment.
Sorry for your loss :(

I agree that looks like a bad infection

Props to you for being a responsible hobbyists who quarantines incoming livestock. The tang may have not pulled through even with the best medicinal practices from the start of the QT. That's an uncertainly. The only certainty one can take away from the affair is that you didn't jeopardize any of your current livestock. Well done sir!
