Powder Blue on the Atkins Diet ...

SO I bought a powder blue off a fellow feefer who had him in QT for amonth, treated him and told me he was eating pellets and live brine. He told me I should be good to go and just put him in my main DT as he has had him QT'ed for a month already. However I got him, threw him in QT and continued to treat him and make sure he was eating, etc. He was eating live brine, nipping at some seaweed and occasionally eating pellets at the bottom of the tank.

However, since I have put him in main DT which has been for about 3 weeks now, while he is doing "good" and has fought off the small bit of ICH I knew he was going to get being a Powder Blue ICH magnet, I am having a hard time getting him to eat anything else. He still eats live brine shrimp, and I feed the live brine some selcon and let them feed on that for 2 hours and get it into their bellies and then feed the live brine in an effort to get better nutrients, he barely is nipping at the seaweed and I have not noticed him eating the pellets anymore (which does not mean he is not eating them when I am not around and can't see)

However, he is very very skinny and this is no surprise as he is eating primarily high protein and nothing else it seems. (Atkins Diet ..lol) I have tried LRS frozen, frozen brine and mysis and nothing seems to work. He still cruises around the tank nipping at the rock grazing like they do, but I need to get him fat and fear this will not hold on much longer at this pace.

just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and can offer me any tips to get him on some more heavy carbs ...lol .. ....

Try Red or Brown Nori/Seaweed with or without Garlic added. All five of my Tangs and almost all other fish in my Reef will eat the Red and Brown Nori. I usually feed a mixed bunch with Red, Brown and Green and they eat it in this order by picking out the individual sheets by color.
