i got the powder blue tang about 2 weeks ago. I did have a yellow tang that was a month established before I got the powder. I know it’s not good and should have been introduced at the same time.

My parameters have stayed consistent with 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ammonia. My phosphorus was over 200ppb and I got gfo a week ago and phosphorus is now 1ppb. Calcium has stayed 390, magnesium has stayed 1260.
Alk has stayed 8.0 with little fluctuations.
The tank is 4 months old with fish and 1-2 months old coral. My stock is 1 yellow tang 2 clown 1 firefish, 2 green chromis, 1 flame angel, 1 spotted goby, 1 mandarin dragonet.
Last 2 weeks the powder blue tang swam a lot and ate well.
When the powder blue tang was introduced there was aggression from the yellow tang for 24 hours and then they got along fine based on what I saw.

Today I get home from work and the powder blue tang is dead. I took the tang outside and took pictures of both sides because I wanted to see if anyone out there can see a cause of death. Thanks.

Prob nthing you did..... or your tank....or the yellow bc I see NO NIPPED FINS

Prob couldn't handle the stress of shipping.

I've dealt with tangs fir 15yrs and I know two constants with them:

1) no big swings in salinity or they're goners
2) no big temp swings or they're goners

Tangs come from waters that are consistent with water temp year round. They cant handke big 6-8 degree daily swings. They are super sensitive to swings in salinity too

Ok. I’ll have to check my temp. I have 2 150 ehiems. 1 set for 78 one set for 76. I’ll have to make sure they are in working order. They do have algae on them. They are placed in the return section of sump. I’ll double check my salinity but I haven’t done a water change so I’m not sure if it has dropped and if so why.

If not quarantined properly this wasn’t going to end well, anyway unfortunately. Many of them arrive with velvet infested gills and are zombies when they arrive :(

That one I can say is pretty thin and did not eat much prior to death and that probably didn’t help.

Any swimming in to powerheads? Spots? Dusting? Discoloring? Hiding from light? Scratching? Flashing? Breathing heavily?

Sorry for your loss :(
