He is in QT. Started treatment with Coppersafe (but what I had on hand said expired 9/2022; used it anyway starting Monday evening until I could locate some new Coppersafe near me; plus, my copper test kit was also expired--3/2023 so I was testing but didn't know if it was accurate or not. Could not get levels up!) Finally got new test kit on Wednesday & new Coppersafe Thursday!) Started using the new stuff yesterday afternoon but by this morning my Flame Angel had died & my tang is covered with spots & spending a lot of time swimming in front of the powerhead (which I read somewhere is more a symptom of velvet!!!) He is still eating though but I still can't seem to get my Coppersafe levels up (I do have sand & some decorations in the tank; it was my previous DT before I recently upgraded to a brand new 75 gallon tank).Looks like it. Did you quarantine and treat him- or is this still in QT?![]()
I'm sure they would much prefer to be Chick Magnets! Have to try to keep my sense of humor but I'm really bummed! Thanks for your reply.Good luck - my Powder Brown had that last month, he's still in QT! I pretty much dislike Powder xx Tangs -- seems like an Ick Magnet, ha!
Good solid advice -- I did that for my powder brown last month, thanks again! These are mucus cones likely due to irritation and may be mixed in with ich
Not unusual for this type of fish to get this
Quarantine will be first step followed by treatment with coppersafe at treatment level 2.25-2.5 monitored with reliable copper test kit such as Hanna brand for a FULL 30 days
Monitor ammonia level during treatment
Thank you. He's been in QT since I bought him on November 17th. He & the flame angel were doing great. I was almost ready to put them in the DT & then Ich reared it's ugly head!! The flame angel was dead this morning. Hope the tang can hang in there. Thanks for your reply. These are mucus cones likely due to irritation and may be mixed in with ich

PBT’s are born with ich and genetically pass it on to their offspring …Guess I made a poor choice. In my highly respected scientific opinon,PBT’s are born with ich and genetically pass it on to their offspring …
