3 weeks without treating? You might as well skip QT altogether if that's the case. I've got too much to lose I guess if I risked it. I might consider in a fish only system if all fish could be treated, but no way I'm breaking mine down to try and catch a fish I thought looked good.
First it did not have ich as far as I or my LFS knows. So thanks for your advice, but I think I will skip yours due to lack of any insight what so ever. Sorry, but that is how I feel. Too many people doing that, which will get ignored from here on.

Of course the longer the better. 90 days w/b even better. You do have to weight many things thought....fish generally do go through some stress in a qt since we rarely have the equipment for a long term stay and even w/ frequent water changes you can get poor water quality in between. There’s also some stress created if you have more than one fish in the qt as they are generally on the small.side. All things considered you will never be 100% sure that observing alone, no matter how long will ensure everything is ok. So my experience, and that of many, is all things considered, have had success with about 3 weeks. Now the species matters too, so watch closely for signs of stress and try to go at least 3 weeks or as suggested longer for a species like a PB for reasons previously articulated. Nothing is 100% full proof in this hobby. My 2 cents for what it’s worth. Good luck.

Now that is solid advice, thank you. Only reason I was looking at 3 weeks is: it is the only fish I n the QT, fish was in QT at LFS for a month prior to me buying it, and lastly, the fish is showing no signs of stress. I will be watching this guy like a hawk watching a mouse.

Your welcome. Good luck. PB is a beautiful fish. All this talk almost has me thinking about getting one!

I don't QT my fish other than to get them to eat in peace so that they get use to captivity. I can put a fish full of Ich in my system, and he will get better after a few weeks.
Here is my BPT when I first got him, and about 1 year later. Much, much larger and fatter as you can see.

Do what you want, its your risk not mine. Just because you may not particularly like advice you get, doesn’t make it devoid of insight. If you are relying on your LFS to properly QT then maybe don't talk to me about insight.
