80 plus shipping

Dude I would buy it in a second but that’s a long trip. Do you think you can package him well enough to live? Just don’t want him to die.

I will buy it as long as we can get it here safely. Would hate for the fish to die due to the shipment.

IMO, as mentioned by another fellow reefer (Tidal Gardens), fish being in tanks is like a human being in a space ship. Sure we’ll survive out in space in a shuttle, but long-term stays may not be ideal.
There are plenty of reefers who keep tangs in less than 40g, I’ve seen LFS (local fish stores) keep much larger tangs or angelfish in smaller tanks long-term as well, although it may not be healthy due to the nature and behavior of tangs being somewhat open-water avid swimmers, it’s not impossible.
Id either return it to the store for credit or keep it in your system (granted you don’t add any more tangs or large-bodied fish) until you find a local reefer that is willing to take it in.
I had an Achilles tang in a 50gallon for a few months and it never stressed out or became unhealthy because I provided it with ample swimming room, no competition, and plenty of current to swim against.
If you look to the Reef Builders studio, most of their tanks (below 80g) has at least one tang and most LFS keep a tang in their small frag tangs for algae control, but going back to my original point, although it’s not ideal long-term (as in 3years+) it’s not impossible just “looked down upon by modern reefers” as we grow our understanding of fish behavior.
Unfortunately the species of tang you purchased tend to stress out easily and prefer random, strong currents so just make sure to not have competition, plenty of flow, and length of a tank (length is always better than height in a reef tank).
You forgot to mention how long you’ve had the tang for, how large it is, and what other livestock you currently have? Good points to be informed about (:
I’m located in 92606 zip code SoCal so if you’re nearby I don’t mind taking it in.
