Powder blue tang

How risky are these-experiences-ich?
From what I know VERY ICH AND VELVET PRONE. Im getting one in 3 weeks and plan to treat while in QT to make sure my fish is healthy before going into the tank if this helps. The one Im getting will be my first PBT though. I also read they are really aggressive, thats why mine is my last edition to my tank!

Risky, as far as disease? Very prone to ich. I would make a plan for that.

Had mine for 7 years. Never had a spot on it ever.
But meanest fish I've ever had. Most in control, too, if that makes sense.
Knew exactly what it was doing at all times. Very purposeful in its actions.

Ah well mine is going with 3 other tangs in a six foot tank. I have a almost full grown purple, a smaller yellow and a blue hippo. The hippo is only slightly smaller than the PBT

Might want to try an acclimation box after qt but keep us updated for sure.
Purples can go off too.

My purple is actually really really chill, only time he was mad was when I put the yellow tang in. Put my purple in the no no box for 2 days then they were best buds haha

That's good to know.
I've read a lot of your posts and know you have the experience and appreciate your knowledge of your fish in general.
I appreciate you qt everything first and I always feel for you if something goes wrong so from me to you props!
There is a certain bad@#$ vibe that a powder blue brings to everything in the tank and it's that vibe I'm giving you advice on. It will/may change other fishes personalities so to speak.
But I know you got this.
Let us know.
Hope your regal does amazing!

Thank you I appreciate it! And yeah I get that vide from the powder blue as well, but its a stunning fish and I want to take a change with one! It doesnt work Ill rehome so the tang gets a tank that he likes cause thats all I care about is my fish being happy and healthy! Have you ever had one of them? Ive done a ton of research but never find someone who has had one in their tank, and I always see like 2 or 3 adults at my two LFS!

I've had two over the past 10 years and they have never been sick or had any issues. Hard part is getting a healthy one to start and I have gotten some really poor (emaciated and/or diseased) ones online from LiveAquaria and NY Aquatic that never made it. If you can I strongly recommend getting one from LFS you can pick. Some tangs I have had in the past like yellow are a different story and long made me think of tangs as ich magnets.

Yes-lucklily my blue tang has just worked out-other thing is i dont quarantine my fish before going in but think my LFS would before they hand it over to me

Violet Aquarium usually has them in their wysiwig section. I've only gotten healthy livestock from them, and, really great at communicating if a fish you've ordered isn't fit to ship (as they did with a chocolate tang, and offered up a healthy specimen).

2nd this on @Violetaquarium . Nice selection of healthy fish, good prices and a couple of options for shipping. I’ve done the ship to airport for pickup for larger orders and overnight UPS (free if over $200). All good.
