I lost my powder brown tang. Im about to set up my qt for all my other fish (2 clowns, a yellow tang, and a mandarin dragonet) How long do they need to be in there so all the ich eggs in the dp are gone? I am going to use cupramine in the qt.

Can I fill up the qt halfway with my display tank water and the rest with new Ro/Di water and put the fish in right away?

All the water I would need for my plan would be ready by tomorrow morning.

Hold on a sec.... no need to use copper in your DT. Do you have coral? You need the copper in the QT with your fish.

You are going to need to seed a filter of some sort in the qt whether you use tank water or not....Was the PB showing Ich? Are any of the others? It would be terrible to lose them to ammonia by not having the qt ready for bioload. Bio Spira, Dr. Tims...etc...HOB filter with sponge.....

I meant to use the copper in my 40g qt and go without fish for 80 days. Ill take out some of my bio balls and put them in my hob when its filled with water.

All my tangs showed signs of velvet and ich (Swimming into powerhead) and had some white and black dots (I tried Prazipro but they didnt go away). My yellow tang doesnt have the spots anymore but I am not taking the risk - none of my other fish have any signs but ill still treat them.

After this - I am going to qt all my fish before they go into the dp.

I always buy the big bottle of bio spira. Put half the bottle in on day 1. Then a quarter on day 2 and a quarter on day 3. I've never had an ammonia problem.
