Ok, so I have a mixed reef - mushrooms, Gonis, Montis, birdsnest, Alveopora, Acans, favias, and hammers. I'm trying to decide what to feed. I have Reef Roids but they cause enough nutrient spike that I get algae outbreaks shortly after feeding. I have Benepets but my Acans don't seem to like it. I was looking at Reef Chasers Reef Candy and considering picking some up. Anyone have any comparison feeding Benereef vs Reef Candy?

Try using less reef roids at once. You don't need that much to have it work.

I prefer liquid foods (fuel, reef energy, aminos, etc.)

Why not just feed the acans something more substantial like Mysis or pellets. I rarely spot feed corals, but when I do for my LPS I feed Fauna Marin LPS pellets and everything seems to eat them well.

I target feed my corals reef roids 1-2x per week with little issue. Are you target feeding or feeding the whole tank?

I target feed weekly with mysis or brine shrimp and I broadcast feed Reef Roids and Benepets once each per week.

I also use Brightwell Aminos or Fuel (I alternate between the 2).

I use a plastic syringe to target feed reef roids. I take a little bit of tank water and mix in the roids in a shot glass. I then suck the solution into the syringe after which I let it sit in the glass until the roids settle to the bottom of the syringe. Turn off the flow in the tank an injest directly into the corals and it comes out almost like a paste. Any coral with a “mouth” closes around the food quickly. Even my chalice forms a mucus to hold the powder close to its mouths. Of course some gets into the water column but not nearly as much when I was broadcasting.
