Power Backup?

Thinking of adding a backup power unit to the essentials of the tank. Most likely just a MP40. I'm void of any knowledge about electrical current draws, etc. Can something like the following be used as a backup? Is their a way to have it automatically turn on in a power failure situation.
 
It will work for relatively short periods of time. One mp40 it could run for between 5 and 20 hours depending on setting of mp40 and how many watts it is actually using.

After the Texas Snowpocalyps I bought the Explorer 500. About 3 weeks ago I lost power for an hour and a half. I've got 3 IceCap 2ks running through the Hydros Engine. I connected the Engine's power cord to the Jackery. It used 2% during that time. At the same time my phone was almost dead so I was able to charge it and the light on the end came in very handy. I also bought the solar panel to charge it just in case...
