Power cord management ideas?

This is a cabinet I found online and modified. Cabinet dimensions 15-1/4" wide x 8-1/2" deep x 48" tall. If you would like more details on the cabinet or pick my brain on the things I would do differently next time, you can contact me.

At the advise of my reefing mentor I purchased this DJ switch and this Velcro. I made sure to put the soft side of the Velcro on the cabinet so if I want to move things it isn’t a big deal since I can’t get it off. As I mounted things I zip tied the wires. I’m happy with the inside but I don’t like all the wires loose behind the tank. But I need to be able to remove things to clean them. How big is your tank? That probably plays a part. I also put up closet lights with Velcro and labeled the switches with a label maker.

We all come here for reef specific help, while google is a great option, im sure we rather get direct advise from other reefers. Let those willing to help assist Walleye34 the right way

LOOM has nothing to do with reef help... it's typing " wire loom" into google for a quick answer. Sometimes it's better to teach people how to fish than just giving them fish.

I did away with most of the transformers and bought 2x 24v and 1x 12v transformer and a few switches and some 5.5mm sockets and various sized cables with 5.5 x2.1mm plugs on them and made a switch board. This was on my old setup

AWESOME! Anything to get rid of all those wall warts!

@Reefrats How did you determine that a 15 Amp dj power strip was the right choice, I like the idea of using this for my set up, I see many "sizes"? 15, 20, 100 amp units.

An experienced reefer advised me. I have a dedicated 20 amp circuit for my tank.

You just said Loom being intentionally vague. When you type the word Loom Into Google this is what you get

But hey thanks for teaching me how to fish.

Your talking about wiring...use loom (wiring" and the word you don't know "Loom" brings you to all the info you need.). I always use more than one word when doing a google search. Google 101. Looks like i'm still teaching. HaHa

iN 25+ years I've tried many things. From cutting plugs off and extending every wire to the exact length it needs to be, to using extend-a-plugs to zip-tying all the wires together . Now I use trunking and slotted trunking. Key is to use much larger than you think you need. Any extra cable you have , just stuff inside and close up.

My currnt setup with reef-pi and all associated bits.

Nice!

I was thinking about something along those lines.Just wasn’t sure how well the Velcro would hold . Thanks!
Some high quality velcros, as well as some velcro straps for cord management are very beneficial. Make sure to keep either some sort of drip loop, or some way for the water to not have a chance to come in contact with any outlet.
