What's the best power head position to create waves in the tank? I have two Tunze 6105s that are going to replace a couple of Koralias that came with my used 90g. I saw a few youtube videos of the power heads pointed right at each other but I always thought it was better to bounce the flow off of rocks and the glass to randomize it. With them pointed right at each other it created a great wave motion through out the tank.

There is a lot to consider here, so it is a hard question to answer.

First, what are you stocking your tank with?

Second, what size is the tank, 90 gallon?

Yeah it's a traditional 90 gallon. Right now it's mainly all lps with a couple montiporas.

From the specs of those Tunze's, they are pretty powerful.

I would start with the power at 50%, the pulse power at 50% and offset the pulse to be 60 on one and 40 on the the other.

For placement, this is going to be tricky to describe. One on each end. One end at 40% up toward the front to the tank, pointed slightly up toward the centre, the other at 60-70% up toward the back of the tank pointed slightly down toward the centre as well. That said, I would not point either directly at a rock (so if the rock is in the centre, offset it a bit)...

That is of course based on not seeing your rock layout, lol... It could be completely incompatible...

Just to close the loop on this, two 6105s were way too much so right now I've just got the one in on its wave function. Thanks for the help! I'll come back to your suggestion if I decide to turn my 180g in to salt.
