Looking for opinions/recommendations on a IN WATER (must go over flow box) power head keeping the following in mind. I have a 1000G (12ft) tank with 3/4 inch glass and I plan on adding a few high end BTA's so the ability to "cover" the power head in very important

Thank you

Can you post a picture of the tank and where you want the powerhead to go? I'm not quite sure what you mean by over the overflow. Does it have to mount to the overflow box? Or does the cord have to come up over the box?

I'm thinking a closed loop style pump or a tunez is your best bet.

The magnate must go inside the overflow water box.. thus wet. Tunze's will work but I wanted to see if there any good alternatives as I have not seen any nem protectors for Tunze's

Ok that makes sense.

If you're just adding some flow take a look at the Nero 5 from AI. The magnet says for 1/2" but you can always get another one to hold it in place. If you have any farm supply stores near you, you can get rubber coated "cow magnets". They would probably hold through 1" glass. They're made to go in cow stomachs, if they can hold up to stomach acid they'll more than likely hold up to salt water.

Or adding a closed loop pump that runs up and over the back could work. You wouldn't have to worry about a guard for nems then.

I have my power heads in the overflow too! I use Jebao ow-50. They are powerful. I don’t know if it will come with a nem protector, but I’m sure you can DIY one easily.

I like the profile of the Nero 5 but worried about the glass thickness. Does anyone have any experience using one on 3/4-1 inch glass.?

I’m trying to decide between MP40 and Octo Pulse 4 for a similar situation but only 120G. That said the only powerhead that seems to have a readily available after market nem guard is the MP40. But the OctoPulse4 is really attractive for many other reasons.

Here is an option.
