i recently moded my maxi 1200 and now no matter were i put unless its pointing up it blows my sand bed everywhere i see all these tanks with tons of water blowing around and there sand bed is unaffected so how do i acomplish this

you thnik because i will be taking the tank down to put it on its new stand and i turned a 35 gal into a refug i also would a bare bottom afect the natural filtration of the tank and what about hermit crabs and stuff never realy considered a bare bottom tank

You can also use a coarser grade of sand either on top of your existing bed or as a gradual replacement for it. This will be less prone to getting moved around by the current.

It helps keep nutrients low due to no accumulation of detritus in the sandbed, which is easier to siphon out or get kicked up into the water column-no need to maintain the sand bed over time. Not the only way to do it, but works for me and no sand storms-

I just added some more coarse sand over top of my fine sand today. Looks great and it's not moving. Simple fix! :D

BTW I hope when I scuba dive I dont see a bare bottom ocean! LOL!
