I have all the equipment for my new system except the power heads. I found a very cheap $23 set of 2 powerheads (total 1600 gpm) with free s&h on eBay. I intend to add corals to my system as soon as I can. Do you think the flow would be too much? I don't think you can regulate the flow in those power heads.

that is a 55x turnover. which is pretty high, what kind of coral are you planning on. as a side note, I highly recommend against putting a discount no name product in your tank. you are talking about putting an electrical device into a highly corrosive environment at best they will fail and you will have to buy another set, at worst, they could cause a fire or leak voltage into your tank.

yes, you are right. I should probably look for savings somewhere else. My second option was 2 x Hydro Koralia 425 and I will probably go with those two. So I would have 30x water volume. As for the corals in my tank - I am not sure yet but I really like "eagle eyes", "kenya trees" and "long polyping leather" or some variations of those. Basically I would like the reef to have some motion and life.
