I do have power back now. I've lost almost all fish. Amazingly still have a clown and a blenny. Coral (LPS) still has some color but not sure if it will make it. Some zoas are starting to open up a little. Some inverts are still alive. Tank is cloudy. I've removed all dead fish. Other than water changes what can I do? Add some Prime?

I know the feeling well. On Christmas Eve (Dec 24th) around 11 PM I was carrying presents from my basement to the Christmas tree and we lost power. Bad wind/rain that night. The power didn't come back on until 3 days later. The water was in the 50s on Christmas morning. Lost everything except for 3 LPS corals. Approx 15-18 Acro died and 3 dead fish.

Coppell Tx, Power has been out for 3 out of 36 hrs and it's 18 degrees right now. Been boiling aquarium water on fireplace and pouring back in. Able to maintain 58 degrees.

I’m so sorry.

Living in hurricane alley, we have the power losses, but the temps don’t nosedive on us.

Again, sorry your having to go thru this.

Not trying to be rude here or come off snarky this is an honest question. How do so many people not have a backup plan? Theres plenty of amazing technology available that is also more affordable than ever...cheap generators, amazing battery backups, and the most reliable news forecasting in world history as of 2021. Just to make a point i want to say i dont even feel bad for you. Obviously im just trying to make a point and i feel terrible for you. Best wishes

Sorry to hear that! There's another round about to hit us now, fingers crossed you don't lose power again!

@Baldguy If you can then warm some hot water put them in bottles and drop in the tank. Put a airstone on battery powered airpump and put in the tank.

I can't help myself....your comment was really uncalled for. There's no need to kick someone when they're down. @Baldguy is a member of our community and a fellow hobbyist, just like you and I. We all make mistakes and we all try and learn from them. I am also from his area and prior to this storm, I can't even remember the last time the power went out. Sure, having a backup plan in place could have helped, but even if there was one, it may not have held up to this specific challenge. Offer suggestions, offer guidance and condolences, but don't be rude & snarky about it. By the way, saying 'not trying to be rude' doesn't negate the fact that you were actually being rude.

....off my soapbox.

Im in McKinney and can hold the coral for you, my home is running on a whole home generator and system has been 100% stable. I have plenty of room and can support acros also, I wouldn’t normally offer due to pest but this is crazy here

Get hand/pocket warmers!! Quick Amazon purchase that has helped me when power goes out for extended periods (we live in PNW). Shake, slip in a ziplockbag, and let the battery backups circulate in the display. More than enough to keep it going for hours.

I’m so sorry for the losses. :(

What home gen do you have?

My house power isn't as stable as your's, but all 3 of my tanks are 100% secured and I have a little room to store some as well if needed.

Thank you for the kind offer. The acros are all encrusted and we went to my in-laws for the night. I think it's over.

I should have have been more specific as this was not specifically aimed at OP, what people in texas are dealing with, frozen gas lines etc is completely unforseen. Im just saying all to common people have no problem spending $100-$200 on frags etc but fail to have a contingency plan. I see these posts a lot on this forum and others. Again i was more or less trying to address a common theme. I had good intentions but you know what they say about those lol

Hang in there brother. That storm was brutal and their may be more to come.
Stay safe.
I'll say it in my ATX (born and raised): Yall be safe and I feel bad for my friends and family and fellow R2Rs. I hear the storm ain't over, but it will be soon.
