Power outage and temps dropping quick

power will be back in less than two hours. Tank temp is 74 and dropping (house temp is 60). CAN most corals survive if it drops to 65 or so? OR should I intervene?

I hope it comes back on. That's getting a bit low, but I bet they'll be OK. If you can intervene, yes, do it. (generator?)

Well they said it’d be back within 2 hours so I’m counting on it. They’re usually right.

Probably would be a good idea to put a sealed bag of hot water in your tank as a precautionary measure, hedging against a longer outage.

Id wrap some blankets around the tank if possible, and like mentioned above put some bags with hot water in the tank. Assuming you have a gas stove and can heat up water?

Two winters ago I heated water in our fireplace and had a campstove at the ready. Made a difference.

Our water is boiling hot. The tank is up to 75.8 after floating a couple bags. Amazing. Whoever came up with that is a genius... lifesaver!

Oh good, I was going to come in and say hot water in bags. And of course any battery powered air pumps you can.

I knew It’d take something like this or worse to get me to splurge on a generator. What can I say, I always have to learn the hard way / I’m an idiot

Actually do have one of those! Got it forever ago. Didn’t get batteries for it though... yeah. Also my car battery is dead/dying so I’m stuck home.

About a month ago I was away for a weekend forgot to connect My heater used to use that outlet for the AC during the summer to keep my house cool also I keep cracked window in my house, the cold came and my tank went from 80 to 75 Friday to Saturday and then dipped to 64 on Sunday before I got home.... that weekend was TORTURE!!! Watching my APEX warn me every few mins! But no I’ll effect on any of my fish and corals, just make sure when adjusting do it gradually don’t panic and do it too fast when you get power

Make sure to agitate the water to mix in oxygen. They'll be fine for an hour or two but if power doesn't come back on you're going to be putting sleeping off and hand mixing your water every 10-20 minutes.
