Thinking about everyone on the east coast, and was wondering what people have in case of emergencies. Is there a battery back up strong enough to run a tank for an extended period of time? Worst case scenario, what at the bare minimum should be left running? If a gas generator is the only alternative, what size should you get?

I have a 3500 watt portable generator. I'm in NJ and if I lose power I'll rum the heater and 2 powerheads along with some household stuff☺

I have two generators, one for the central heat and one for the fish tanks. eight years ago we had a lengthy power outage and I was not prepared. I lost some corals over the deal and vowed that would never happen again. I guess you live and learn, with age comes wisdom and we can all learn from what others do.

3500w generator here as well. I think I paid $189 at harbor freight. Kind of loud but I have an extra long cable and just put it in the backyard during power outage.

UPS systems for filtering and brownouts as well as a 2000w DC inverter generator that should run for 4-5 hours on 1G of gasoline. The house has a 3800W portable for hook-up if needed.
