Update: their estimate has changed and now they say power should be restored by 11pm tonight due to the amount of people affected in my apartment complex (over 1000).

Yup, something like this would work well on a smaller tank.@Brew12 can you turn a car battery into a power source for pumps and heater?
Glad the power is back on.Update: power came back on around 9:30 last night. Tank did get down to 70. Hand warmers didn't really help but the air pump definitely did. Guess only time will tell if the corals are alright
Glad the power is back on.
Hopefully everything is fine.
Now would be a good time to plan for the next power outage.
Figure out what the minimum amount of equipment you would like to keep the tank running and look for a inverter that would work.
Getting something like this is simply insurance. You get no returns on it, until you need it. But when you do need it, it can save everything.
While the Ecotech battery backup is a great idea, it does have a shelf life.I think what I'll do is buy an extra battery for my car (as a fall back for my car as well) as well as a power inverter that connects to the battery. That way I can power a heater and MP40 for a while. I'm considering an ecotech battery backup, but unsure if that's the best way to go
For the money I think this is a viable option, it is more than the batteries but could probably run the whole tank and a couple of other items. I'm actually looking to get one myself.I think what I'll do is buy an extra battery for my car (as a fall back for my car as well) as well as a power inverter that connects to the battery. I just wish they designed these types of generators to run anti-sync as well as synchronized. It would be nice to parallel two of them to create a 24ov circuit. For the money I think this is a viable option, it is more than the batteries but could probably run the whole tank and a couple of other items.
