Hi guys just a couple questions about equipment recommendations to plan for power outage.. mainly just to maintain circulation and heat. Right now I'm running a neptune pump and I don't have the apex controller. Using BRS titanium heater 300 watts. What recommendations do you have for batteries? All I could find seemed to be specific for pumps/heaters/power heads

APC makes a good selection of UPS. The heater will suck the life out of batteries pretty quickly. If you need to run it for a long period of time I suggest a small generator to go along with the battery backup

I just had this debate with some non-reefers. The point at which a generator becomes cheaper than a UPS is about 90 gallons, I believe.

However, you have to be able to get home within a couple hours to turn it on and hook it up.

Thanks for the input about the UPS, anyone also have experience with the Icecap battery backups? Anyone know compatibility with Hydor Koralia?

Do you have a gas fireplace? Is it near the DT?

I run a relay setup and a thermostat to turn on my fireplace during power outages. Keeps the Livingroom toasty during the winter.
I placed the thermostat beside the tank and set it accordingly

I also have MP10s with a smart charger and BU batteries, and BU 'D' cell air pumps if really needed
