Do as I say not as I do and don’t learn things the hard way.

Lost power for a couple days due to the storms in Houston this past week.

Here’s the before and after. Have a power back up! Really wish I did. Lost almost every colony.

Sorry to hear. That sucks. How long without power?
Have a $400 Wen inverter genny for my tank. Best money spent. Saved me a number of times.

Those economics work everyday of the week.

Just about 36 hours. Aka too long without flow/circulation.

I’m guessing not even battery powered air pumps or power heads either?
I wouldn’t think lack of flow would kill corals. Fish, yeah. Was temp affected? Not sure of temps in Houston currently.

Interesting, maybe there’s something more to consider. Here what I observed. Temp didn’t get below 75 degrees. I believe (we left town) the fish lasted about 24 hours and then the water got very cloudy over the next 12 hours. I believe this to be a bacterial bloom from the fish decaying.

In my view, it’s either lack of oxygen due to poor circulation and/or bacterial bloom that irritated the corals. But who knows. Happy to hear others thoughts.

Yes, the dying fish would also cause a spike in ammonia which could be detrimental to the corals.

I did a test with my Tunze 6095, 12 volt battery, a battery charger, Tunze Safety Switch and I was able to run the pump for 5 days on a battery. I wish I can find the thread I did with it.

PS above all I am sorry for your lose.
