Power outage what do you do?

If you can run a generator where you live it is the way to go. They are not that expensive considering how much most people spend on livestock. Batteries and inverters are great for short outages, but only a generator is sustainable. I have both.

Its funny everyone buys a generator to power their house I purchased one to run my tanks. Which allowed me to buy a smaller unit in $200-$400 range and i figured if i'm willing to buy a $300 skimmer or $700 in lights or $100-$500 in corals why wouldn't i buy something to ensure (if you live somewhere where you can set one up) the life and function of my tank that i have invested so much money and time into?

I have a 8500 watt generator. Runs 180g tank and everything in the house except the central air. Funny thing is, we got it because we kept having outages. I buy the thing and our power hasn't went off since...lol. I got it on E-Bay brand new, full warranty and very cheap because the stand was a little dented. If you be patient and look, you can find good deals.

Yeah I got mine at Home Depot about 3-4 months after a major hurricane hit down here.
It was a floor model and had a bent front stand. I hammered it out and it's fine now.
I also contacted the manufacturer and told them I got this unit and it was damaged and they sent me a new stand.

BTW my tank is a 55 gallon with a 10 gallon sump.
