So a tranformer just exploded outside my house and the electrical company says it wont be fixed for another 12 hours.

I have a 30 gallon reef, 12 gallon planted fish only, and a 70 freshwater and i don't have a backup generator. What are some tips i can use to keep my fish and coral less stressed for the next few hours.

Do you have or can you get a battery powered air pump for the tanks? That will provide very gentle water movement and oxygenation for the tanks for a while.

if you are home, put a stick in and start stirring. or have a small cup and just scoop the water up and pour the water down. That should generate enough oxygen....Not sure how your temperature situation is.

Its about 40 degrees outside i wrapped the tanks in blankets trying to insulate them and i have one battery airstone I'm rotating

Where is this :-); We have a lot of reefers and borrow equipment are common here in so cali..... and it is not 40 degree regardless of what time of the day now..sorry for the tease :-)

Yes this is another great idea! Get on your phone and search your area for reefer groups on facebook. You will probably be able to get somebody local to loan you a few things until your power is back. I know the reefers near me would jump at the chance to help out one of us.
