Power Outages - What do you do?

You can get a battery inverter plug it in to the car and run a small heater in the tank just make sure the power inverter is big. Enough make sure u have the car running don't want to kill the car battery

I have to reply to this as I travel a lot.. All you have to do is spend 3000 dollars on a back up generator and wire your house to run on it. After that you, like myself will never lose power again.. True story, it's been 5 years since we lost power and it was a regular thing until then
I also have a home back-up generator and it really is such incredible peace of mind with the reef considering I've invested big money into my tank. I'm protecting my investment, it's insurance. :)

Generator
Has saved me more than a couple times. If you plan on having a large investment in livestock, a generator purchase is well worth it!

I usually just wait them out. The power here usually comes back on before it's a major problem. Our temp is pretty mild compared to most. I've had power off for 7 or 8 hrs a few times without any issues. I do have a couple of inverters for prolonged outages. I mainly just keep an eye on temp and maybe churn the water every once in a while manually. I've got camp stove, barbeque pit, inverters that could all be commissioned in the event of a prolonged outage :)
