Well wanted to share the results of running as many low power usage pumps and lights in my new tank as possible to make having a tank less costly from a electric bill point of view. After running the set up for 2 months and having almost all equipment installed i was very pleased to see my bill only rise a meer 13.00 a month so far, Will be adding a Ca Rx that will add one more small pump but should not effect the usage by much. the total usage before the T5's was only 0.7 amps for the whole system and with 2 T5's has climbed to a total of 1.7 amp while they are on. The other biggest draw is my MP40 which is needed but wish they had a DC pump that would take it's place. Having Led's is IMO the biggest saving as far as not having a tank break the bank on power use and still be able to grow colorful healthy Sps.
My last system ran around 150.00 month when using MH and AC pumps and to many of them to do what can be done with one DC pump. All that savings can be put into more coral and that's a good thing besides being a little green....

That's really awesome, Bill. I remember discussing how much the electricity bill was for your 185g when you had it. :) I'm trying to keep the bill for my 180g down, too. I'm estimating it should be around $30 a month. Not too bad

Awesome Bill.

I have no idea what mine takes to run, nor do I want to.

I noticed a nice savings on my electric bill when i switched to leds and got rid of the halides.

This is one area my wife is concerned with when I get the tank up and running in a few weeks. Thanks for the feedback.

OK thank you sir. Will look into them. Im worried about the mag 18 taking a crap or putting stray voltage in tank.
