Ecotech MP60.

I know that wasn't a choice you offered, but that's my opinion..
Either the Tunze of Sicce would also work.
If I HAD to choose one of those, it'd probably be the Tunze

Come on man. You guys trying g to get me divorced..lol. I can't afford $450 powerhead...especially when I tell her I need TWO!

Norbert Tunze literally invented the powerhead.

This is a Tunze 6101 I bought in 2005 with money I got as a highschool graduation present.

As you can see also pictured is a Vortech MP40 I bought in 2012.

The difference? , 15 years later, the Tunze still works. The 8 year old vortech unfortunately does not.

Id bet money the Tunze will last another 10 years too

Another thought. You could also get a sicce voyager hp4000 and a hydor wave controller for around $220. It’s only on/off for the wavemaker, but you can add another hp4000 to it later (tell her it was only $30) and have way better tank flow than your other two options for a total cost of around $400. Simple and extremely reliable.

Tunze 6105 = 3400gph - 17x turnover (much lower on average on random mode. Maybe 12x)
$280
Sicce SDC = 2250gph - 11.25x turnover (much lower on average with random mode. Maybe 8x)
$200
Sicce VoyagerHp4k = 4000gph with wavemaker function. 10x turnover (consistent on/off), 20x with two pumps.

What will you be keeping in the tank? Tunze has been doing this a long time and are a very reliable pump. Sicce also makes solid products, but I have never seen or used their powerheads. Either choice may require more than 2 to create ideal flow (depending on your coral choices). I have 3 x MP40's in my 180 and plan on adding a 4th soon. I run all of them up to 80% for my mixed reef, giving me A LOT of flow options from a calm lagoon flow, to SUPER turbulent random flow.

yeah i realize that MP40's are the "ferrari" of the powerhead line up but those are just out of my budget and i am reluctant to buy used ones on ebay.

I will look into those as an option. Depends on cost. I need a couple (maybe 3 powerheads) in my 200G

Not sure yet....still in building mode. Get my new vectra m2 pump on monday, will replumb for it then start putting in the RO water and rock to start cycle process...i still have a way to determine. I would like to have easy corals nothing too challenging and a few fish.
