I read that vinegar will dissolve the coating on the impeller magnet so should i just take the impeller out?

I've never taken mine out. i usually do 50/50 distilled white vinegar/ro water. i plug the power head in and run it for about 30 minutes. then use the same mix to scrub with a toothbrush(taking the power head apart).
if it makes you feel better, you can definitely take the impeller out.
