i just got my Tunze Nanostream 6055's in today with the y cable and moonlight sensor...

i put them in the tank replacing my old Koralia's and WOW what a difference....

i set the controllers up to do a 100% blast for 5 seconds on one side ramped down to a 20% and the other side to do a 3ish second 100% blast ramped down to around 25%....

when i plunged the y cable in with the moonlight sensor i did not put one of them in slave mode and i noticed that the flow was very random and the controllers were very rarely synced up with each other...

when the lights went off, both powerhead went to low flow... these things rock.... now i just have to clean up the cords tomorrow when i wake up...

my question is what kind of flow do you guys and gals prefer? random or wave?

I use the Vortech MP10's and I put them in reefcrest mode which creates a random water flow. The pump will ramp up and down from 10% to 100% randomly, and the pump on the opposite side of the tank runs opposite of what the master side runs. I've tried wave mode and wasn't happy with it.

I too have an mp10, but i have been using it on 100% constant speed mode. I tried reefcrest, but wasnt happy with it because most of the time, it runs slow and doesnt provide a lot of flow. I wish you could customize it and have it pulse between 50-100% or 75-100%. I just got a new koralia evolution 800 a month ago and honestly I think i like it more than my vortech.

One of the reasons I got the Tunze nanostrem 6055 was because I could control the high and low.

Don't think it matters. Can't generate a natural wave in a tank anyhow; I gave up trying years ago.
