Hi I’m just on my way to upgrade from my nuvo 20 to deepblue 80g frag tank and would like suggestion on the powerhead, as currently i have mp10wqd and it run really quiet and perfectly. I’m to get another mp40wqd but somehow i’m kinda interesting in the gyre style power head, the maxspect anf icecap gyre pump. Anyone have any experience with those to pump also i see the maxspect gyre, does it need that advance controller to run it or just the pump itself.

gyre needs a controller to run. They sell them without because you can plug two pumps into a single controller.

If you use an apex they sell a module for the apex to controll a single pump but I think its the same cost as the gyre controller.

yes i do use apex and i see the module that connect it to apex now, so do you like that gyre style power head ???

I have 2 250s in my 120g and I do like them. They aren't as quiet as normal pumps though. I barely hear them but I can still make them out. Its a good option for keeping the bottom of the tank clean and still providing a good amount of flow though.

that what i see some members talking about, also that the reason i like them since my tank is really wide and mp40 wouldn’t cover them all up even i pair them with mp10
