Thanks I did decide on the Tunze 6055Lots of great discussions on here already. To help sort it out there are a few types of flow different power heads provide. General overall flow, directed flow (both wide and narrow) and gyre flow and these can be cycled by controllers or wave makers.
Personally, I like the pumps that can do more than one of those. DC controllable power head beats AC with wave maker in my opinion in every area except cost. You can get a couple of SIcce Voyagers (only AC designed to be cycled and a high quality pump) with wave maker controller but they're beefy.
I also like directed flow (but I like a broad based directed flow so I can use as fixed overall flow pump if I wish).
I would go with what it does first, over how it looks second. Quality over cost (these things run 24/7 for years).
I have a long discussion of what I use in my build thread and why I shifted from MP-10 to Tunze 6095 if you want pump model specifics.
Good luck!
I just saw your thread this morning and that's exactly what I was going to suggest. Thanks I did decide on the Tunze 6055
Are you using an SCA 66? I'm searching powerheads right now. THANKS!I just saw your thread this morning and that's exactly what I was going to suggest.
I've been using the 6055 model on my smaller tanks for 12-14 years.
I started out with the a pair 6055's that required the 7095 controller and have switched to the newer style ones that have their own controller.
I have a pair of them in my 32" x 24" x 20" tank.
It's a custom 66.Are you using an SCA 66? I'm searching powerheads right now. THANKS!
