Just ordered a reefwave 25. Really excited to try the gyre out on the new build but second guessing if I should've got the 45.

Tank is a 4 ft standard 90 gallon and the pump will be mounted on the right side to blow across the whole tank. Plan on having the return nozzles pointed at it to randomize the flow a little as well. Tank will eventually build to be a mixed reef.

Well it depends, but I have a 70G with 2 MP40s powering it. That's 9000 GPH. I don't run them higher than about 50% so were down to around 4500 GPH. A reefwave 25 is rated at 2000 GPH at 100% so I think you are likely undersized but it all depends on your tank occupants and goals.

I am planning on some powerhead for the backwall pointed forward as well. Either some vortechs or maybe another gyre

Gyres are great for combining with a different type of pump. Really helps to provide broad-coverage.

I have 3 mp10s from previous tanks but might get an mp40 for the 90 to combine with the 25. Just not sure if I undersized the gyre. I read reviews on the maxspect where people said go with the smaller 330 as the large one is way too powerful for 4 foot tanks. not much out there on the reefwave yet but the GPH flow rates are only slightly less than the maxspect.

I'd use those MP10s , random swirling flow is what I try to achieve. But I welcome anyone's conflicting view point.

Probably a good starting point at least. If it's too small I can always buy the bigger and use the 25 on the backwall or something.

Just wait until you see the gyre in action. After 14 days of running dual IceCap 4k's on our 6' 300gal & I will never go back to the traditional wavemaker. These are remarkable.

I'm sure you will be impressed with the Reef Wave 25.

The maintenance on gyres can be a pain though.

I thought that's the sell of the newer age ones and redseas in particular is they're much easier to clean than the first couple generations.
Yea supposedly, still a lot harder than swapping a Vortech wet side into a bucket of vinegar.
