First reef tank here, trying to learn as much as I can as I slowly collect equipment. Scratching my head on what might be the best powerhead placement. I have 2 viewing sides, the front and the left hand side of the tank so I don't really want to use opposing poweheads and have one stuck on the left hand side in the viewing area.

I'm trying to figure out a way to hide cords also. Thinking of using a EcoTech MP10WQD on the right hand side of the tank but not sure what to use on the left hand side or in the left hand/back corner. Could I mount another MP10 on the back wall blowing toward the front wall? Would that work?

Like this:

Perhaps 1 larger powerhead like the MP40 on the right hand wall is enough?

Or, maybe the MP10 on the right hand wall and something like a Maxspect Gyre mounted vertically in the left hand rear corner? I could direct one of the outlets down along the back wall and one toward the front...

Whatever I choose it'll need a battery backup solution as we get regular power outages.

Appreciate your input!

Flow can be a bit tricky. Depending on the aquascape, you may need to modify placement, pattern, and intensity often once everything has been placed inside.

Yes thanks. Understood. Right now I’m just trying to figure out what equipment to purchase to get going and eventually move around if required.

Probably something like this. I'll likely build up the right hand side wall and back wall, have a space in the middle back and create another island closer to the left. I'd still like to keep a sight line in from the left hand side so when I'm sitting on the couch I'm not staring at the back of a bunch of rock.

You could use a Gyre 3k and a MP10 depending on glass thickness to get the dead spots. The 3k moves a ton of water.

Gyre / Ice Cap will move lots of water as already mentioned above. Couple of MP10's, or even the Jebao PP-8 (newer model series OW) will get the job done.
