So I'm trying to figure out best way to increase flow and turnover in my mixed180 without passing off corals. Right now I have mp40 on one side in about the middle and gyre on other side a few inches from the top. I'm noticing detritus building up in areas around sand bed and rockscape. It seems like everytime I try and crank up the flow the LPS get ticked or sps seems like it's in direct flow from colliding in the middle. The mp40 is on about 3 on reef crest and gyre is 60%. Any thoughts on changing things? Am I better off cutting back all LPS and increasing flow for the SPS? TIA!

I run a mixed 120g and I have two MP40's on it. I run a mix of modes throughout the day.
I run short pulse at 70%. That moves the whole tank with a great standing wave. You have to tune the time to your tank size/layout.
I also run nutrient transport at 80%.
At night I run reef crest at 60%.
No issues with buildup anywhere or softies/SPS. Placement helps with that.

Maybe trying to put the mp40s on the back, if you can.. I have my gyres on the back and the mp40s on each side. I had 40s back there first and didn't like it and I reversed them

Are you using the mobius app? If so when you look at the gph what do you see per head when you're running at 60 or 70%? I’ve got 2 mp40’s on my 110 and I’m running them on average around 30% on various modes so I think I’m probably way below what I should be (which might explain the cyano problem). But the LPS seem irritated when I go higher and the sand gets displaced.

I have my MP40's directly across from each other on either side of the tank.
In this pic you can see the MP40 on the far side. The other one is just to the right of the photo.

Had some pretty detailed programs running through the Apex Neptune through out the day for each of the six large powerheads I had running in the tank. Had it cranked up pretty high since I felt my Achilles Tangs needed it high. Did have to place my LPS in shielded areas though...

Wow that’s a lot of flow! I think the Vortech calculator is way off. It’s saying if I put two Mp40s and two MP10s I’d have way too much flow. I’m ignoring them and buying two more 40’s so I’ll have four 40’s running total. Each around 2k gph which is 8k gph total, 2 to 3 x what they suggest. But I’m convinced my low flow is my primary contributor to cyano.

4 MP40's in a 110 is seems like overkill.
I run 2 in my 120 and they aren't even turned up all the way.
I have a feeling your cyano issue is mostly related to your nutrients.

Yes also had two large return pumps with their own return.
One thing I could never say was that my tank didn't have enough flow or turnover
