I have seen in alot of people's pic's with these pumps I have a 29g bio cube i'm getting ready to set up. Is this something I should invest in? I'm still learning all this why I ask :) Thanks for any advise

Are you talking about circulation pumps? If so I use the hydor koralia Nano in my 29g Biocube. I actually use 2 one on each side of my back wall. Here is a link for themWater Pumps & Wavemakers: Hydor Koralia Nano 240 & 425. They are good for the money you spend on them. As Nana said flow is very important in a reeftank.

I googled that pump and it said the circulation pump yes that is what i am talking about...thanks for the link i will check that out cause i wasn't sure if the pump it came with was enough but i have just seen them alot in peoples pics and was curious... I figured i would end up needing lol...

Anytime and FWIW I also have a 29g Biocube so any questions you have feel free to ask.

Nice! Just remember take it slow. There are a lot of upgrades that can be done for that tank. Let me know if you are interested in learning about some. Right now just enjoy what you have and lots of research.

I'm very interested in learning about the upgrades i can do and whatever else i can learn. I am taking it very slow i want it to be perfect. i have had my tank sitting in my living room for a week now with nothing in it...i going pretty slow i think...lol j/k

Most people replace the stock return pump with Cobalt Aquatics MJ Multi-Purpose Powerhead/Pump it increases the turnover rate to 295 GPH from 265 GPH. As mentioned before flow is very important in a reeftank. You would still want to supplement this with the circulation pumps we discussed before. The other big upgrade that I would probably do before the return pump is get rid of the bioballs and false floors in the back chambers and replace it with the InTank media basket, Coralife Biocube 29 Media Basket with the water director. this is a nice addition allowing you to place chemi-pure, purigen, and some filter floss on the shelves to increase water contact with your chemical filtration. I also recommend getting the fish saver BioCube 29 Fish Saver this one is for the oceanice version of the biocube, but yours is probably a Coralife version if it is new so look for one for that one. Believe it or not fish can and will get through that gap and into your back chamber section. I believe those are some great upgrades for you to start with. No need to overcomplicate things. In the future when you start keeping coral mainly SPS you will want to look into upgrading the lights. My guess is you have the Compact PC set-up with the little led strips. FWIW don't waste money on the led strips they make for that tank they are not worth it more for aesthetics than growing coral. If you decide you absolutely want to add those strips I have some I will sell you cheaper than you can buy barely used. Also keep an eye on your running temps. I had heat problems in the summer time for mine which is the main reason I upgraded my lights to led's. The stock lights are good enough for most soft coral and some lps. I have seen some support SPS. If you have issues with your tank running warm I can help you solve that fairly easily. Well that is more than enough for you right now just some thoughts. Good luck and any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for all the good advice I have put together a larger order. My poor wallet...lol. I will be interested in the lighting and how to upgrade since I will want to have a total reef tank. Is it possible to upgrade and keep the hood or will I have to ditch it. Also I had a question on the balls that came in the back of it. I heard to take them out and put live rock back there or do I just put the media basket back there I have seen online a media basket with a fuge basket and the fish save as a kit but that would take up that whole space back there. Any suggestions on that?

Definitely take out the balls, the media basket should be good enough. I run a tunze 9001 skimmer in the middle chamber with the basket. Yes, there are led retro kits that install in the hood Retrofit kits - Nano Kits - BioCube 29 - Coralife Biocube 29 Kits - Dimmable - Rapid LED. I would wait on that though until you get running good no rush. Also I bought the fuge basket to use and ended up not using it. IMO save your money and just invest in a better skimmer.

Ok that lighting just got serious...hahaha. I ordered my basics to get this started and was gonna order the basket and skimmer next payday u say get a better skimmer I only know of the one recommended for the tank and I look at others but not sure what will fit in there. What do you use?

AquaticLife Internal Mini Protein Skimmer 115 fits in chamber 1 minor mod I used this one when I first bought my cube. The coralife biocube skimmer is junk the one I linked works good for the money. Tunze Comline DOC Protein Skimmer this one is the one I have now can't give a good review on it yet still trying to dial it in but it fits in the middle chamber with the mediabasket. Also If you place a skimmer in either chamber but the first one you will need an ato unit. I know there are others but these are the only ones I have exp with.

Also I wouldn't worry about the lights until you figure out exactly what you want to do with your tank and enjoy it a bit.
