I have never had a powerhead plugged into a timer, I just leave it plugged in all the time. I only turn them off when cleaning the tank and when feeding corals. I manually unplug and plug it all back in.

I have a cheap one that occasionally does this. I just unplug it and plug it back in until it goes the right way.

Agree with both of these posts :)

My hydor koralias do this too. I had to pull them off my wavemaker because of this. Run great, just not really ment to be turned on & off a lot. I just plug them in, make sure they're blowing the correct direction & leave them.

Absolutely famous for it. I quit using them. They also freeze up and I often had to remove the guard reseat impeller, and manually set the spin underwater...PITB.

Yes, the AC koralias, I never used the DC ones. When using them off a wavemaker, I had no issues. And hydor has had great customer service, they've sent me new covers and magnets at no cost over the years.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but this is exactly the issue I have my Rossmont Movers everytime I do maintenance that involves shutting them off. I have to remove the guard and stop the impeller with the guard and then push it the other way. This seems like a really good way to lose a finger tip, am I wrong?
