I’ve been dealing with this issue for a while!

My powerheads make a Venturi with the sand. It sucks a literal stream of sand, like a tornado.

The sand looks like this when it is getting sucked up in the powerheads:

My powerheads are STRONG. I need the extra flow for my tank.

A venturi happens on both sides of my tank. It happens every 30 minutes, and makes the tank look really dirty.

What’s the solution?

Here is a picture explaining what happens.

It tends to happen on the back powerheads on both sides of the tank. I have 2 powerheads on both sides of the tank.

Move them up a bit ,point them back to current flow direction ?

I tried putting them higher, but then there’s a venturi that comes from the surface of the water, causing microbubbles.

Not sure what the “point back to current flow direction“ means.

I just tried raising the powerheads as high as I could, and it triggered another sand venturi. I got it in video. I can not make the powerheads much higher. Please help me.

Try slightly adjusting direction of powerhead downward ,with the new raise in height ?
