Powerhead?

I am looking to buy my first powerhead for my 20 gallon tank, I was looking at he koralia nano powerheads and was wondering which gph (240,425,565). I used my friends powerhead and It stirred up the whole aquarium and sand moved alot but I still want to have the wave effect so which gph will be strong enough to make a wave but not stir up the sand in my 20g?

It would be helpful to know types of corals you have or are planning. You can always add more powerheads, but cannot tun them down if not controllable.

I have hydor pumps in past and still run the nanos, but there are better ones out there. Imo

Oh my tank is a fowlr, its my first salt water and I am in college so I wont be having corals anytime soon.

I use two Sicce Nano 530gph in my Innovative Marine 40G. It's strong enough to create flow for my coral and doesn't blow my Carribsea special reef grade sand unless I aim it directly at the substrate. It also come in 250gph but I think that's too weak.

I would think the 425 would be fine for a fowler and aim to surface for agitation.

The 425 should be fine. I hate when people do this, someone asks about a specific items and then someone suggests something else, but. Have you considered a jebao controllable pump? The smallest one would be fine and it has the advantage of different setting.

Yeah, do look into the jebao rw4. It is affordable and wow the settings are amazing and very multifunctional. I have it in my 10 gallon and its already stirring some sand at the lowest setting.

I have one of the small Jebao's in a 40B, and it's nearly enough all on it's own. I've had it for 2+ years, the only issue is that every month or two I need to give it a vinegar soak as it'll slow down suddenly, but it's good as new after. Otherwise, the 425 is probably plenty for a 20g FOWLR.

I have 2x Hydor nano 565GPH and 1x 425GPH, 1x 1150GPH in 40B and it's just enough flow.
for 20G Long I would use 565 each side, 20G tall I would use 425 but I would suggest 565gph since it's not a huge different power between 2 version.
