What size powerheads are you running? I am just setting up a 180 and right now I have 2 Koralia 6's and 1 Koralia 5 and that just seems like a ton of flow. I will have a mixed reef and I am afraid the lps will not like that much flow. It's also blowing my sand all over no matter how I try to adjust the angle of the powerheads. I was thinking about stepping it back to 4 Koralia 4's or something similar on a Smartwave. What is the experience of anyone else?
Thanks

I had two koralia 6 and two koralia 5 on my 150 with no issues. There would be moments where all 4 would be on at the same time...seemed like not enough flow to me.

One issue with the Koralia Evolutions is that they do not always start after stopping. I have owned 9 Koralia evolutions, and they have all failed after some time. I end up having to remove the rubber bushings and shave down the main shaft.

With that said... I have purhcased a TUNZE 6205, a TUNZE 6105, and a TUNZE nano-stream. These are the best pumps I have ever owned. The controllable TUNZEs can be dialed back to suit your flow requirements, and they can be put on a wave maker (RKE, Apex, etc.) I suggest finding a turnover rate that you feel meets your requirements, and find a couple TUNZE powerheads that meet these requirements. You can place one pump on each end of the tank, then aim them at each other.

Warmest Regards,
James

quality over quantity

Agreed. I was patient and scored 2 gently used mp40wes pumps, grand total: $530 I can't wait to get my 180 this weekend and move them over. Going to be mixing more water in one weekend than I have in the past year, LOL! I'm thinking about just making a few trips to the LFS and buying the premixed just so I won't have to spend 3 straight days running the rodi filter!
