Hi all, I am in the process of building an 80 gallon frag tank that is 40x24x16 and I was wondering about any powerheads recommendations? I’ve heard the maxspect gyres are good but I was reading some reviews and supposedly they are very loud ? Also any suggestions for a skimmer.

I have the ice cap 3k, there's plenty of flow in my 4ft long tank at only 40% and it's practically silent. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about noise but I can barely hear mine. I also really like my reef octopus classic 110 skimmer

I have maxspect gyres, not loud at all. They are great.
Bubble magnus curve 5 or 7 elite would be a good skimmer. 7 if you plan on having a ton of frags.

My gyre was a little loud for first couple days, now it almost silent.
Unless it sucks air.
After having the 3k for couple months it's so much better then anything else I've used.

Hey so I’m very undecided right now between the icecap 3k and the maxspect gyre XF330 does anyone have any advice ? The maxspect is just also two times the price so

I don't have experience with the icecap but my gyre xf350 is dead silent and was a breeze to clean. It also moves water like none other. I have not noticed any algae growth on the actual pump with the light deflectors on which increases the length of time between maintenance so that's a plus.
