Currently have TWO Neptune WAV in my tank, and they are loud, brand new. They are more than I need but the loudest part of my tank. I like them because they connect to my Apex, which is nice, but thinking of just switching to something else.

Thought on 3rd Gen of the Koralia? 1350? Or should I just keep the WAV?

Thanks

I am ditching my wave maker for the same reason...

I have several generations of Koralia powerheads (probably not 3rd gen though), they are all great. However, several of them cause me to get a shock if I touch the light and the water at the same time. This phenomenon doesn't appear to be causing and problems, but the whole 'stray voltage' topic is controversial...

That aside, I they are low cost and reliable, I will continue to buy them as needed. SunSuns also work quite well for me, I experimented with them a bit, as the magnets on the Koralias are not quite strong enough for my thick glass on my 220.

I am a big rossmont fan. They are also made in Italy like the hydros and I believe by some former hydro engineers but you can add their controller later if you want to have ramping and pulsing. Very happy with my MX 4100s and waver.

I had two powerheads given to me and I put them both in my tank when I started it up. Here is how it went.

Koralia: Put in place, switch on, I look at it, mutter to myself, "Dang, this thing isn't even working". Reach my hand in to find it is working just fine, thank-you.

Other Brand: Put in place switch on. "Whaa, why is my phone vibrating so loud?" Oh wait, that is my tank getting ready to shatter. Throws powerhead in trash.

So what your all saying is sell the WAV even though all my gear mostly Neptune?

Alternatively you can get the Vortech mp40s and sync with wxm

I have not had experience with the wave. While I am a Neptune user I do not like having control centralized. I have also never heard anything bad about the wave besides some complaints that the pumps are ugly.

I do think we should help you solve your problem rather than simply suggest what we like. In that spirit.

What kind of noise do you hear? Is it constant? Is it a water noise? Vibration? Has it happened from the beginning? Do you have pics of your install? Have you contacted Neptune? How large is your tank?

The source of noise on my Wav’s is the cord vibrating. I usually just need to adjust how the cords resting or push my lid into place better to stop the vibration. Otherwise they've been pretty good to me. Less noise than my old gyres from a motor standpoint.

The tank is 300 gallons.
Two WAV, it does sound like vibration. Tank not set up yet just in the process of leak testing and testing all the equipment.

I will mess around with the cords tonight.

The only other thing running right now is Abyzz 200 that I don't hear.

Can you send me some $$$ please. I don't have extra 700 sitting around right now. Lol
Gyres are only $400 for a set of two with a controller. If you don’t have money to spend, sell your wav’s and save up.

I have had cord vibrations in the past and found that if I wrap the cords in silicon airline tubing it can help a lot to reduce vibration.

PS as someone who sells pump replacement parts I would never buy a gyre. The amount of gyre parts I sell in comparison to other pumps is just crazy. Granted the new 3oo series may be better but I think some of the gyre part ware is inherent to the design since the parts have worn out in G1 and G2 and the IceCap Gyres.
