Do most folks have success in fragging PPE's? I have a colony and want to remove a couple of polyps and put them on a disc. If I take a razor and cut them as close to the base as possible and then super glue them will they have a good chance to survive? I am aware of the protection needed (gloves, glasses, etc.) Thanks in advance.

I have 6 frags growing. Some I cut with small pieces of LR attached some I scrape off with a razor blade. Make sure you get the base :).. and once you frag your PPE's you will see more growth ;)

is the need of keeping the base tissue true of most all zoanthids. I have not successfully fragged except by rock breaking or placing disks in contact with the colony and letting them grow over. I did not have good luck with the cutting method before, but am sure I did not get much (if any) base material. I simply cut at the base and glued.

Just fragged my 5 polyps into 5 frags.....i wanna see some growth!! :P

I just cut the connections between the polyps and cut underneath to the rock so i didnt just have a polyp to glue.

Fragging them all is relatively similar... i might try to practice on something a little cheaper first just to make sure you get the method down, it took me one or two tries.... but make sure you scrape off the base like they said. I usually try to dig into the rock a tad and let a thin layer remain attached to the base of the polyp. Most of the rocks seem to be soft enough that you can scrape off this thin layer. I just angle the razor blade downward a bit when i scrape. I've had pretty good success with this method so far...

Exactly what i was trying to say....:)

thanks for the help!!
sorry about the cuts. I have more scars than fingers LOL (not that I have lost a finger just very challenged

We can actually smoke Palys? :marv

They are super hard to keep lit. I just lick them like we used to do Toads...:hammer: :p :marv :hammer:

Just kidding, don't do it!!!!!!

I use the same method as JC Reefer and Fishes2889. Works good for me, I go through about 75 plugs per month.
