I recently got a PPE frag and was wondering what lighting would be best to keep these under. They are in a tank with a 250 watt halide over it, do they like high light or lower light, looking more for color not so much the growth.

Thanks,

Matt

I have a frag right under 4x24w T5's(supplement to MH) and it does fine, another frag on the substrate in my 30g under 250wMH and some a few inches above the substrate...they all look good...none are shaded.

My PPRPE looks like it needs to be higher though.

I keep mine shaded because ppe's have a tendency to get white speckling near the center.

mfinn- That is what I am looking to avoid. I want the true PPE color without the white specks. So to get the true PPE color I would put them in a shadier area. Correct?

Eklikewhoa- What kind of growth and color do you have on your PPEs?

Thanks,

Matt

I put mine in a slightly shaded part of my tank. They get plenty of light, but just not direct mh lighting. (250 watt mh)

Mine are touchy and will close up if a grain of sand lands on them.I started out with one polyp and got great growth at first and as they got settled in they have slowed way down.I just went 6 months and just now seeing two new ones.If it gets to where you are not seeing any growth cut them and refrag them seem to jump start them to grow.Mine also will speckly if they get to much light.
