I’ve done enough reading to know that it’s dicey mixing Prazipro with coppersafe as it causes bacterial bloom and plummets o2 levels. I have a oscellaris clown, green chromis and and diamond watchman goby in coppersafe at 2.0 ppm and today is 3 weeks. I always pro actively treat with 2 rounds of prazi and then copper 30 days then transfer to DT.

Well my last batch of fish was an oscellaris clown and a few chromis I bought last month to qt and didn’t even make it to the prazipro as I like to feed them for a few days and adjust to qt then start the meds. The chromis came in with pretty bad uronema and died a few days later but the clown broke out in either velvet or ich and died within a few days I’m guessing velvet as it happened to quickly. So this round of fish I got 3 weeks ago went directly into my qt with copper from shipping bags. All has been well since no signs of any diseases or uronema thank god so now comes my prazi question.

Should I remove all fish from the copper qt after 30 days and move them to a clean qt and hit them with 2 rounds of prazi, or should I use general cure mixed with the copper instead and just leave them in the copper/general cure because I know that’s more compatable with copper than prazipro.

The last wrasse I added to my dt went through copper no problem and I thought I didn’t need to treat prazi pro. Within a few weeks my hippo tang was scratching and I noticed clearish white blotches and sure enough he had flukes. 2 rounds of prazipro in my DT knocked them out no problem but I’m gonna put my corals through that treatment again. Must treat for flukes pro actively I’m taking no risks again. Sorry for the long post but figured I’d give you guys all the info I have.

Prazipro will cause bacterial bloom on it's own when used most of the time.
Using it with copper doest trigger bacterial bloom per se. That's one of the side effects of the medication prazipro itself.
Although completely safe to use with copper based medications. Just make sure to have a really good flow in tank, air stone or power head to ripple the surface etc will help.
Even if the bloom happens it will go away in few days on it's own.

We usually mix copper and general cure instead. We do them concurrently when necessary. As you said, O2 saturation is a concern so a bubbler and powerhead aimed at surface should take care of even really bad blooms on the chance they occur.

This is a good thread for me to ask my questions.

Had established tanks that shared sump, for 14 months. Added new fish with a short QT time, only two weeks.

No signs of disease so I added the fish to DT, (powder brown tang). Massive Ich if not velvet outbreak. dosed Prazi and Poly labs medic for several days and Ich signs actually got worse. Lost a powder blue and my emperor angel and Kole tang were on deaths door.

I essentially added a third tank, removed all inverts and ornamental live rock and created a system with live rock, and fish only on a 90G tied in through sump to a 240. all coral went in 2nd DT separate filtration and removed all fish.

So coral tank is looking great, no fish but all corals are doing good and inverts as well.

fish tanks however are another issue. Ive had my copper at .5 now for 9 days. Emperor has made a full recovery and is eating relentlessly. However he still has cloudy eyes, my naso tang also has cloudy eyes. My square side Anthias quit eating over night and is now in hiding.

I am thinking I need to add prazi as well for a few days as from what I've read copper won't clear the cloudy eyes?

Anyone else been in this situation?
