Hi everyone,
I currently have 1 male lyretail anthias and 1 blue head tilefish in QT. I've had them for almost 4 weeks now. Both eating well, no sign of disease. I added prazipro prophylactically 4 days ago. The next day, the lyretail was flashing noticeably. The tilefish had 1 swollen eye. As of this morning, both seem back to normal. Both ate fine through it all. Was this gill flukes? How do I proceed? Should I do a second round of prazi soon? WC and carbon first? Thnx ahead.

You will need to do a second dose a prazi 5-7 days after you did the first. A water change should be done before the second round. I would also treat for ick while you have them in QT. Whether TTM or copper or CP, it's always smart to treat for ick prophylactically.

+1 Both of those fish are good candidates for copper treatment, so that would be my next move after the second round of Prazipro.

Thank you! One last question, are either of these species known to silently carry ick? They've been in qt for almost 4 weeks. Wouldn't that be enough time for ick or velvet to show? Just trying to understand. I don't normally do copper without symptoms.

The anthias is a "maybe". But most tilefish (I'm a fan) I've QT'd have shown ich pretty easily.

Just an update: both fish made it through QT and have been in my dt for a few days now. What a pleasant surprise the tilefish is. I was worried he might be intimidated being the only tilefish (and my tomini tang can be a little bossy) , but he is awesome. Out all the time and practically stealing food from my tang's mouth. Way underrated fish imo. I'm a fan now.
